About David Berghouse
Your web site
I offer a service that is different from the standard web site design service. I specialise in what goes before you start using FrontPage or Dreamweaver yourself or using a web site design firm.
This is the crucial stage for success.
Planning Your Site
My forte is the 'business' aspect of a web site: will it achieve the owner's goal(s). Most sites that 'fail' don't do so for technical reasons.
I assist you in defining your expectations of what a web site can do for your business. There's more to a successful web site than the media generated fallacy of 'build it and they will come'.
Web Site Usability and Evaluation
I have experience in evaluating sites, including their navigation, structure and editorial content. As well, I have conducted testing by small groups of users, including videotaping their testing and administering post-test questionnaires.
Computing skills training
I have over 9 years experience in training people in the use of (Windows) computers. I'm available for short term or longer term training, both in-house or for regular training courses.
I am experienced in delivering training to people with a broad range of ages and vastly disparate computing skills. I am able to deliver training in both corporate sessions in a sharp focused manner or in a more supportive environment - depending on the requirements of trainees and organisations. A few hours of my time will enable you and your staff to become proficient in the use of your computer and the Internet.
My experience utilising computers ranges across large organisations, small business and the community sector. As a result I am able to meet the needs of any constituency be it an upgrade of existing skills or a first-time small business operator coming to terms with using a computer.
